If you work as an inside sales-person, you must generally be paid overtime unless more than 50% of your compensation during a representative period is from commissions, and your compensation is more than 1.5 times the federal minimum wage. Employers often illegally fail to pay overtime pay because they are paid a salary and less than half of the employee’s compensation is earned from commissions.
